Almost everything a veterinarian is told about the law of practice is second hand: who may give an injection while you are out, whose signature a consent needs, which certificates only you may sign, what the antibiotic bans actually cover, what must be in writing before euthanasia, and what an owner can do after a death. This course sets each of those against the Act, the rules, the Code of Ethics and the reported cases, says plainly where the law is silent or unsettled, and leaves you a document to keep in the clinic after every module. It teaches the law, the records and the process. It teaches no clinical practice.

How the course runs, start to certificate

Eight written modules. About sixteen minutes each, read in any order, at your own pace, on a phone or a laptop. Every legal proposition carries the case, section or regulation it rests on, so you can check it. Each module also leaves you a document you can use: a delegation and supervision sheet, a four-part consent and estimate set, a certificate register and checklist, a dispensing and antibiotic log with a withdrawal period slip, a euthanasia protocol and death record, a first forty eight hours note for a complaint, a notifiable disease and clinic safety register, and a written online and teleconsult policy.

A scored quiz at the end of each module. Five applied questions, not definitions: a situation, and what you would do. Four out of five to pass. Retake it as often as you like, and the authority is explained on every answer, right and wrong. Your best score is the one kept.

A final quiz across all eight modules. It opens once you have passed all eight module quizzes. Sixteen questions, two drawn from each module, twelve out of sixteen to pass. Your sixteen are not the same as anybody else’s. Retake it as often as you need.

A certificate of completion, issued once the eight module quizzes and the final quiz are all passed. It is signed by Dr. Rupal V. Rana, MBBS, DCH, LLB, LLM, and carries a number anyone you show it to can check on this site. It is a certificate of completion: not a diploma, not a certification, not recognised by the Veterinary Council of India, any State Veterinary Council, any university or any Bar body, and it carries no continuing education credit.

The bonus module is included and costs nothing extra. Pet shops and dog breeders need a veterinarian's examination and certificate under the rules made under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act; no rules written for boarding kennels or grooming salons as such were located for this course. Whoever engages you is buying the use of your registration, and the certificate or the listing carries your name. The module sets out what the rules ask, what the business must never do in your name and whose consent governs, and leaves you a one-page engagement sheet. It sits outside the eight: it is not in the final quiz and it is not needed for the certificate. It has its own scored quiz if you want one.
